Trump and Melania ‘thrilled’ Kate will be ‘front and centre’ during two-day State visit

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania are ‘thrilled’ that the Princess of Wales will be ‘front and centre’ during their two-day State visit.

Kate will greet the couple alongside husband William in the grounds of Windsor Castle on Wednesday morning and formally introduce them to the King and Queen.

The two couples will then enjoy a horse-drawn carriage procession through Windsor Great Park with the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.

Kate will join the Trumps for lunch followed by a visit to see artwork in the Royal Collection.

The Trumps will then pay a private visit to the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II at St George’s Chapel.

President Trump will visit Sir Keir Starmer at Chequers, where he will be welcomed by bagpipers, and be shown items from the Sir Winston Churchill archives provided by the National Trust at Chartwell House.

The two leaders will also host a reception with British and US investors, such as GSK, Microsoft and Rolls-Royce, and witness the signing of a new tech partnership deal, before a lunch of Dover sole with peas and potatoes.

The princess, who is recovering from cancer, will appear at a State banquet on Wednesday evening and then join Melania in Frogmore Gardens in the castle grounds the next morning, where they will be shown the Scouts’ Squirrels programme.

A Trump source said: ‘The President and First Lady are thrilled that the Princess of Wales will play such a prominent role in their visit.

‘The inclusion of Princess Kate in so many events during the state visit is an honour.

‘The Trumps very much hoped she would be part of their visit but nothing was confirmed until this week because of the princess’s health situation.’
