Virginia Giuffre’s Family Speaks Out Against Ghislaine Maxwell’s Clemency Bid

The brother and sister-in-law of Virginia Giuffre, who was one of the most prominent accusers of Jeffrey Epstein, appeared on CBS Mornings after it was reported Ghislaine Maxwell was requesting clemency from the Trump administration.

CNN previously reported a letter sent by Maxwell’s attorney that requested immunity in exchange for testimony in front of the U.S. House Oversight Committee, while also asking President Donald Trump for clemency.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after she was convicted of sex trafficking, though the Bureau of Prisons recently confirmed that she was transferred to a minimum-security facility in Texas.

Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, previously told CBS that Maxwell is “vicious” and called her “worse than Epstein.”

Speaking to Gayle King on Wednesday, Aug. 6, Giuffre’s brother Sky Roberts and his wife, Amanda Roberts, said they were against any clemency for Maxwell.

“Survivors are saying no. No to leniency, no to a pardon,” Roberts said, addressing the Trump administration. “Will you silence them again?”

Both Sky and Amanda said they’d be eager to testify in front of Congress on Giuffre’s behalf.

In July, Maxwell spoke with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, and she has since been subpoenaed to testify in front of Congress. However, she said she would assert her Fifth Amendment rights unless granted immunity from prosecution.

Trump has not said he would grant Maxwell clemency, though Sky Roberts expressed dismay that she was moved to a lower-security prison.

“I think it makes you question if there are any backdoor deals going on,” Roberts told King. “For her to be moved to a minimum-security prison … it’s highly convenient that after she had these conversations with various members of the administration that there’s now being some sort of preferential treatment going on.”
